7th Aero India Show 2009 Starts

Bangalore, Feb 12, 2009: This is a show that no other aerial show in Asia can match. Aero India 2009 was launched here today in Bangalore by Indian defence minister AK Antony.

Aero India 2009 has been accepted as the largest air show in the whole of Asia and one of the biggest in the world. This biennial five-day event has come of age to become a strategic platform for global aerospace majors from the US, Russia, France, Britain, Germany, Sweden and Israel to pitch for the growing pie of the Indian military and civil aviation requirements, driven by a burgeoning economy.

As Indian military might gets mightier and Indian defence budget goes to the sky, the global majors from every country are vying with each other to steal an order. Any order can is not expected to be les than a couple of billions of dollars.

And at a time when recession has hit hard much of the world getting orders worth 2-3 billion is a big achievement for any world major.

Apart from a variety of military and civilian aircraft, helicopters and transport planes taking to the skies at the air-show, F-16 of Lockheed, F/A-18 of Boeing, MiG-35 of MiG, GAS 39 of Saab, Eurofighter, IJT, Dhruv, Hawk, C-17, Embraer 135 business jet Legacy 600 and Rafael of Dassault are stealing the thunder with their breathtaking manoeuvres and air power.

India’s opening up of the defence sector to foreign direct investment, the ongoing modernization plan of its Armed Forces and enormous new opportunities in the civil aviation sector have opened innumerable new avenues for investment.
